a really excellent way to reduce anxiety is to pick up a new hobby. find something you’re interested in, learn it, then use it as a healthy and productive way to cope.
āWe want the museum to understand that the moai are our family, not just rocks. For us [the statue] is a brother; but for them it is a souvenir or an attraction,ā said Anakena Manutomatoma, who serves on the islandās development commission. āOnce eyes are added to the statues, an energy is breathed into the moai and they become the living embodiment of ancestors whose role is to protect us.ā
isnt the point of a museum to preserve history though? id prefer something be in a controlled environment than outside in the elements.
The moai have been standing JUST fine in the open in the island for literal centuries. Believe it or not, the Rapa Nui are NOT stupid; they know their island, how to live in it, and what materials and treatment to those materials do or do not last in the island theyāve called their home for ages. The moai are MADE to be āoutside in the elementsā.
And preserved for whom? Iām sure my ancestors wouldnāt feel itās preservation to have a LIVING piece of their culture stolen by colonizers and kept away from them all this fucking long when I assure you, no one asked for their permission to take it in the first place.
Thatās not fucking āpreservingā, thatās just fucking stealing, and a loss of culture for the Rapa Nui.
Well then my God, every museum in the world should give all their artifacts back to the entitled people who want them.
Damn right they should give back all their STOLEN artifacts. How the fuck are you this fucking stupid that youād call the people who MADE and are the rightful owners of those artifacts āentitledā WHEN THE ARTIFACTS BELONG TO THEM AND MUSEUMS

THEM.
Imagine this. Your grandmother has a ring she made. Thereās a very particular way of making the ring that she employed, one thatās been handed down through your family line for centuries. Itās a beautiful ring. One day, when sheās not home, someone comes into your house, steals the ring, and puts it in a museum. When you ask for it back, they go ābut itās beautiful! And the technique is one weāve never seen! Surely it belongs somewhere everyone can see it!ā And yeah, the ring is beautiful, but itās important to you because she used to play with it when she would tell you stories. Maybe, if the museum had asked for the ring, allowed you to write the description so it honored your grandmother, given you a choice in the matter, you might have considered donating it. Hell, if they had commissioned a piece from you using the same technique you probably would have been ecstatic to show your familyās art to the world. But they didnāt. They stole it. And to add insult to injury, they wonāt even admit that they did so. This is what has happened with the Easter Island heads. And this is why they should give them back.
We shouldnāt need a fucking analogy to explain why you donāt steal shit from people, but this is a pretty good one.
Donāt forget the part where you demand they return the ring that was stolen from your house and they call youĀ āentitledā for trying to exercise your rightful claim to your culture and property.
Change.org - Petition To Hire 1,000,000 People To Put Their Fingers In The Shoot Hole Of Peoplesā Guns So They Canāt Shoot Them
Itās still gonna shoot⦠And theyāre gonna lose a finger
No. The finger blocks the bullet. We can do this
This is a gun weāre talking about. The projectile is fired using an explosion, not by compressed air of a toy gun or the elastic forces of a sling shot. People would be lucky if they only lost their finger.
The finger blocks it
The finger wonāt block it - the shaft is only there for keeping the bullet straight, all the propulsion happens behind the bullet. The bullet would rip through the finger, not that many would actually fit without the victim being a child, and beyond.
The bullet would go forward a little and then hit the finger and stop itās not that hard to understand
People are going to lose their hands. Go watch Mythbusters. They did an episode on this, the hand fucking exploded.
No, the bullet would start to go but stop at the finger. Thats basic physics. Also hands dont explode normally they did something wrong.
Why the dingleknockers would you even consider sticking your finger in the barrel of a loaded gun?? the amount of force propelling the bullet at that close of range would shatter the finger at the very least; this is a petition for 1,000,000 people to loose the use of their hands. If a bullet explodes the back of a persons skull when they shoot it in their mouth it sure as hell will explode a finger.
No the finger would stop it
Iām loving the idiocy of this post.
Ppl with brains: ummm finger go boomā¦
Others: no bullet stop. U no kno fisics >:V
no the finger would stop it
You guy who think the bullet would stop at the finger have never shot a gun and can volunteer to it their fingers in the barrel of my 9 mil and Iāll Iāll the trigger and see if it will stop the bullet. Dumdasses
Cool thereās been asbestos in Johnson & Johnson baby powder this whole time and they have been aware of it for decades and done nothing
@laeffy yeah you uh. Need to stop doing that immediately and maybe go to the doctor to make sure you donāt have mesothelioma
this is so fucking sick
FYI, this applies to talc & talc-based powders / body products in generalā J&J knew about this for decades because talc & asbestos occur together naturally (the minerals literally grow together in nature, have similar compositions, and are / were mined together), and theyāre difficult to cleanly filter out from each other.
Itās old knowledge that, unless youāre involved in mining, mineralogy, or occupational health & safety, has been deliberately buried from both the publicās and regulatorsā knowledge.
CNBCās article + their writeup on the Reuters report revealing J&Jās cover-ups go into more detail on their corporate liability and the impact of J&Jās products specificallyā¦
ā¦But I cannot overstate that peopleās best option right now is to look for products in general that do not contain talc at all, regardless of the manufacturer, and to be vigilant in seeking appropriate healthcare (and/or legal action if required) if symptoms arise.
This goes for body use (diaper powder, chafing powderā this is where the cases of ovarian cancer are coming from), for any use where powder may be inhaled (hair, face), or will have prolonged exposure to mucus membranes (eye makeup, bath bombs, etc.).
J&J are not the only ones who have covered this data up, and companies that arenāt sued will absolutely continue to do so. Be safe & be vigilant.
Welllllllllllllll periods suck(trust me, I was emotionally close with a woman, in fact close enough to feel her goddamn periods. Fuck I fucking hated it, men, donāt get that attached. Be supportive, feed her ice cream and whatever else she asks for, but donāt get attached enough to feel them. Itās not worth it.
Anyway, I hate to be callous but thatās just your body telling you to hurry up and get pregnant. Of course birth control also makes them not as bad, depending on what kind. Of course you find out that thereās more kinds of birth control than there are types of oil, which is a pain. There are more period blood containment things(yes, tht includes tampons, pads, cups, etc.) than there are types of oil according to my dad who actually knows his shit about the oil, saying thereās like 4 types.(Yes, talking about motor oil here)
So ladies, find whatās right for you. Ask a doctor. Test some different period things out. Itās for your own good
